Additional history of this Rolls Royce Silver Shadow - The current owner purchased the car in 1993 in Indiana. Based on decals existing on the vehicle it spent time in Houston, TX prior to that time. On the decal it is listed as a 1976 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, but the title says 1975 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow. At any rate, the date of manufacture as name plated on the front driver's side door states that it was manufactured in September of 1975.
Rolls Royce Silver Shadows exported to the United States were very much the same during the decade of the 70's after 1974 to 1979.
Since owned by Mr. Groves (1993 to date), the following mechanical repairs were done on this Roll Royce Silver Shadow - water pump replacement, vicious cooling fan unit replaced, all brakes refitted with pads and rebuilt (this vehicle has 2 calipers on each brake), rear U-Joint replaced. Speed control fixed. Rear passenger side electric door lock repaired. Hydraulic lift system and brake system repaired of leaks by being rebuilt. Full engine tune-up and brake system flush and refill just completed (May 31st 2006).
The following items are known to have fault - passenger side, rear passenger side, rear driver's side window lifts function little while moving the window up. Driver's side front window works as it should. Emissions pump has been removed after seizing. Therefore this car will not pass emissions testing without its replacement. The passenger side rear damper needs to be repaired/replaced, although the car drives fine (there is a bumping sound while going over bumpy portions of road). The car was tuned less than 200 miles ago, complete with new spark plug wires.
The engine, a 412 V-8 has just over 86,000 miles on it, but no guarantee of this can be given except for the exceptional condition of the engine which can be viewed in the pictures. This vehicle has been garage kept for most if not all of it's life in the opinion of the owner. The owner was amazed while inspecting the brake system on this vehicle that bolts securing its mechanics showed no rust. It was however evident that at some point, the car was restored at least in the area of exterior paint. The interior has either been very well maintained or some replacement/restoration has been done. The leather seats throughout show absolutely no signs of cracking and the leather is soft to the touch (see the pictures). Contrast this to other Rolls Royce automobiles of this decade. Most show signs of leather cracking.
In short, this is a beautiful Rolls Royce Silver Shadow. This car would be excellent as either a show car, or even to use in business as a limousine for special occasions.
